Newsrooms and freelancers across the region are preparing for the unexpected, whether that's an ICE surge, a deployment of National Guard troops, or street protests. Molly Eichel, The Philadelphia Inquirer's deputy managing editor for breaking news and live coverage, will walk us through how editors can plan ahead to provide the best support, communication and safety plans for their teams; steps reporters in the field should take to protect their own safety; and how to navigate the trauma (and secondary trauma) that can follow such assignments.
