About this event

Pennsylvania's Right to Know Law is far from perfect. Yet there are still scoops, investigations and enterprise stories awaiting within the vast quantities of law enforcement records that are available to the public and to dogged reporters willing to fight for them. Muck Rock's Dillon Bergin will moderate a conversation with Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press attorney Paula Knudsen Burke and Philadelphia Inquirer investigative reporter Samantha Melamed. Paula will update us on the current state of the law and how reporters across Pennsylvania are fighting for these records. Samantha will walk through how a series of Right to Know requests and appeals became the basis for an investigation into deadly police chases that endangered bystanders but rarely resulted in arrests of serious criminals. Have questions about filing or appealing your Right to Know requests? We're happy to help!
