The P&P Foundation Presents: A talk with NYT reporter Ali Watkins about her new book, on the Philadelphia gunrunners that armed the IRA during The Troubles.
Come to the Pen and Pencil Club Wednesday, March 12, to hear the New York Times’ Ali Watkins talk to Dave Davies about her new book.
Watkins is a Berks County native, Temple University graduate, and long ago Daily News intern who has been with the New York Times for over seven years. She now works for the paper’s London bureau, and for the past several years she’s been researching the ties between Philadelphia organized groups and the Irish Republican Army during The Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Her book The Next One Is for You: A True Story of Guns, Country, and the IRA’s Secret American Army is coming out March 11 and the Pen and Pencil is proud to host an event during her publication week.
The event will begin at 7:00 on Wednesday, March 12. The Q&A with Dave Davies will get going around 7:30, and there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and plenty of time to buy the author drinks after the event. Books will be on sale at the club.
